How we make money

Last checked 14 Oct 2026. ClearRates is free to compare. You do not pay to look at a rate, and you do not need an account. This page is about the site, not financial advice.

Paid links

Some cash savings providers may pay a fee if you open an account through an Open account link. The link names the provider it opens. The click goes through /go/ so we can count it. Sample rows are not sent anywhere and are not logged.

Those links are cash deposits only. They use the deposits exemption in article 22 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Financial Promotion) Order 2005. An Open account link is shown only when the row includes the deposit-taker's full legal name, its country of incorporation and regulator, and its protection status. Beside the link, the page says we may earn a fee if you open this account. Whether that route is enough for every ClearRates call to action still needs solicitor confirmation. This page is not legal advice.

We do not own the banks or building societies we list, and they do not own ClearRates. No affiliate programme is named here until one is actually in use.

What we do not link at launch

Investment accounts, stocks-and-shares ISAs, SIPPs and gilt purchases are not paid links. The gilts page has no buy button and no broker link.

The order of the table

Rows are sorted by rate and terms. A fee cannot move a row. The first five results are never an inserted advert or a sponsored card. A paid link on a product that earned its place by rate is still labelled, and it is still that product.

Top 5 never ads

The first five results are never an inserted advert or a sponsored card. A fee never changes the order.

Newsletter

ClearRates Weekly, if you opt in separately from rate alerts, can carry one sponsor slot. That slot is labelled “Sponsor · Paid link”. It is not mixed into the rate table. The template exists; sending it is a later decision.

Ranking never depends on what we are paid. If that changes, this page changes first.
