How ClearRates handles email addresses, sessions and rate alerts.
What we store
- Email address, if you ask for a sign-in link or a rate alert.
- The time you consented, the wording you saw, and whether you confirmed the address.
- A session cookie after you open a sign-in link. It is strictly necessary, httpOnly, and lasts 30 days.
- Rate alert filters, newsletter choice, and when you unsubscribed.
- Optional email and message if you report a wrong rate.
- A click id on a paid link, with no name attached.
Why
Sign-in is handled as a step you asked us to take. Alert email is sent only with consent, and only after you confirm the address, unless you were already signed in with that same address. Security logs, if added later, would rely on legitimate interests. We do not buy email lists and we do not email addresses scraped from banks.
Cookies and measurement
The only cookie set in normal use is the sign-in session. Fonts are served from this site. Cloudflare Web Analytics, when a token is configured, is cookieless and does not use a consent banner. If a non-essential cookie is added later, it will wait for an equal accept and reject choice.
Newsletter
The weekly email is a separate consent from rate alerts, with its own wording and its own unticked box. We do not add you to it because you asked for an alert. Both wait for a confirmation link unless you were already signed in with the same address.
Email provider
Email is sent with Resend. Resend processes the address in order to deliver the message.
