Best 1-year fix
A one-year fix holds the rate for about twelve months. The cash is committed until maturity unless the terms allow an early exit. People often use this term when a bill or a house move is about a year away. When the bond ends, the provider’s default follow-on rate can be much lower, so the maturity date is part of the comparison. ClearRates orders the rows on this page by the annual equivalent rate and the account terms. A fee, where a provider pays one, does not move a row, and the first five results are never an advert. Each row shows when it was last checked, in UK time, and whether the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme covers that licence. A rate unchecked for 48 hours is marked stale and drops out of a highest-rate headline. A rate unchecked for more than seven days stays in this list, shows the date it was last checked, and is named in the needs-check report. An empty list means those accounts are still being checked. This page is information, not a recommendation to open, switch or stay. Read the provider’s own page before moving money, including the minimum, the withdrawals and which banking licence the account uses. The FSCS limit applies per person, per authorised firm, so brands that share a licence share one limit.

Questions
What happens when a 1-year bond ends?
The provider usually writes before maturity. If you do nothing, the money may move to a lower easy-access or follow-on rate. The account page is the place to read that term.
Does a fee change which 1-year bond is first?
No. ClearRates sorts by rate and terms. A paid link is labelled and does not move the row.
